So im taking back my power from google and calling to get my identity back. My freaking name :)
Its funny how many times i meet people who ask me for my last name and get a little agitated when I say Michel. Of course, they must think that i am giving them my first name as Michelle and repeat the question as if I am a little slow. It's then that I slowly repeat the name and spell it out until they get it. I remember arguing with my teacher in High School after he tried to force pronuncation of my name. For Christ's sake, Whitney Michel isn't a complicated name. It isn't like Obenheiser or something outlandish. Its simple and has the Mee-chel pronunciation. (French) But only time will change this dilemma when the name is more or less recognized by first hearing. And then there is my first name, with the 'oh so lame' "Whitney Houston" analogy. That stopped being a compliment after the "Heartbreak Hotel" track and that I believe was a very long time ago. So post graduation, Part II of my life: the Implementation stage of Whitney Michel and less of the only learning process of Part I: Education, will provide the opportunity to make clear my name.
So, like I said earlier, I am taking my name back and putting a ring to it so that i wont deal with the very special circumstances of my earlier life. Whitney Michel. MichelMen, or Michel Men, still haven't made the ultimate choice. But there you have it.
