the other day i experienced something that most new yorkers experience often...seeing the same stranger multiple times. this time it was for an entirely different reason---his beads. I have a horrible habit of sighing (like a cartoon character) when i am amazed and this guy happened to do pull me in, not once but twice. Whomever this guy is on the Q train to 42nd street-boosts my spirit just before I walk into the Conde Nast building in a way he couldn't imagine.

There's nothing more remarkable than the phenomenal months at VOGUE working with the intimate team that makes the men in the glossy pages of VOGUE look as good as they do. Never in a million years would I have found myself at VOGUE, but somehow my love of menswear brought me to it!

i may be one of the most detailed people when it comes to goals and desires. The closest of my friends have known of my desire/need to ride around in my black bicycle, basket and everything through Manhattan. Just called up one of my older brothers to discuss cycling up and down the streets of manhattan at 3am...(when it's warmer) Am curious to have the experience of cycling down the streets of different cities. [oh] the memories to be made!

i hate following rules. I'll choose the latter to avoid conformity. It's important to me to fear the common way of looking at the world and it's issues because in reality you want to make sure that your perception of the world is different. Talk about inner conflict. It reminds me of a book, ICONOCLAST, that I read last year.

What do i believe in? I believe in thoroughly exploring the world i wasn't born in: a language I wasn't taught to understand. As I get older, I've learned to preserve naivety and remain in question of everything from love, art, religion, sex & death. <3 From MM to my personal life, I want to forever fight as great men have done before me.

An Ode to Perfection

i've always felt a connection to the male gender, the male psyche, male ambition & masculinity. It's the only language i've ever spoken and have ever wanted to perfect. So it doesn't hurt when you surround yourself w/ the boys, from work to music. If you've read this blog or have browsed posts since it's inception in 2008, then you know this far too well. Every step I take stems from the desire to make the brand stronger and bring what i've found regarding this man to light in menswear as no designer has. It pains me to wait longer as you can imagine the responses i've received regarding this 'MM story'. so in the meantime, before exposing anything further...i'll celebrate the greats who make this journey all the less painful...

There are movies that i know will be great 10 seconds into a trailer. So within this list that included Inception and Dark Knight was The Devil's Double. A must see is an understatement for anyone with similar movie interests. I'm considering putting dominic onto my very short favourite actor list. This guy can be dark, and no I have NEVER seen Mama Mia and plan to never do so and hope that it's a glitch on his VC [laughs].

Dark, compelling and crazy enough funny for a dark story of the real life villian, Uday Hussein. So yes Dom, I'll be watching and waiting for more...

It's like you put all of this mystic dust, talent, beauty, sexuality, seduction, mystery and intelligence into a black box and shake it and women like megan fox come out. I have four brothers and the only thing that i could wish for them is to have women like these. women who are enigmas. complex women are not obsessed with being independent but rather an ideal. she must be beautiful enough to constantly chase, smart enough to create a challenge in a conversation, ambitious enough to satisfy a thought and sexual energy enough to gain the attention of an entire room. of course this women also brings the benefit of pride. he knows that no matter how far she may go, she'll always be loyal. so with this said, here is the true ideal woman: megan fox. although one can argue that she may not be a saint or an intellect ---but she is if anything a strategist, a thinker. she knows how to leverage her beauty for what she wants---she's the ultimate seducer. I find the world of creation fascinating. There are brilliant minds in this world who contribute [to the world] on a greater level than any philanthropist or politician. One in particular is Morten Lund and one word to describe him is Brilliant. If you don't know of the guy, then you may be a little bit behind. His investment portfolio alone sounds like a James Cameron and Christopher Nolan film mixed into one. If there is one thing i could ask for in life is to contribute as Morten Lund has contributed to a world. I'm in this industry that I believe hasn't tapped into that mindblowing element of surprise. People are too modest here [fashion industry] to feel like Gordon Gekko or Ron Conway. Men like Morten inspire this movement: the men above all of the rest in intellect, ambition and influence. Seriously, God Bless this brain of Morten Lund.

Just wait until i get a flight and a camera crew to meet these men just before every menswear collection. Forget what the industry looks as muses---these men are real, you can find them in more than just books.

Serving the men who make the world turn. Giancarlo Giammetti is one of those men. Many people may talk about style but this man is and breathes the epitome of style and what every ambitious person wants to become. Besides his most obvious accomplishments in helping to turn around the monumental Valentino brand he most recognizably a brilliant mind.

For every individual needs a Giancarlo Giammetti. One day, I hope to meet this brilliant mind and get tell him of this influence on the growing menswear brand MICHEL MEN.

With a generation of designers rethinking fashion, men rethinking roles, technology rethinking the user experience and politics rethinking the means to reaching objectives---you are easily capable of looking within yourself to rethink everything. With this said and after watching an incredibly remarkable State of the Union address from President Obama, I've come to realize that we happen to be in one of the most progressive times in Global History. To continue with this tradition of growing and remaining a part of the growth we must rethink and innovate. Age of Enlightenment anyone? Thank God I was fed a healthy diet of TED, Gladwell, Napoleon Hill and Godin during my late High School years...if not, i have no idea where MICHEL MEN would be.

I've always been a HUGE movie person. My greatest are amongst The Boondock Saints and Wall Street. I tend to judge my movies on their ability to be seen over and over and still generate enthusiasm. Are there enough action scenes? are the love scenes minimal? is there a very epic car chasing scene? Is there enough depth in the character to root for them? Let's just say that i've never seen a film done like those done by Christopher Nolan. I am anti-theatre but two of his films pulled me into a crowded theatre. Inception and Dark Knight were both the kind of films that you could watch on mute and still enjoy them aesthetically. The dramatic orchestra backgrounds, the rise and falls of their protagonists! The use of some of my most discussed childhood concepts like lucid dreaming brought into film.... Now I sound like a fan, but can you tell me---what film can I say that is epic enough to boast about the director. Forget Oscar buzz and all of that! Let's just focus on great entertainment...and it's been a while since Godfather II came out so keep guessing.

P.S Nolan happens to look incredibly....well...amazing, stylistically.

every night i look up at the sky and look at the moon. during the day i walk and look at the clouds and the planes that dash right through them. im not writing a poem, neither have i ever been much of a fan of them. What i can say about looking up at the sky is that what im creating isnt harder than what the wright brothers created. its personal. its uncharted territory. it isn't on a list of things to do by a superior in a workspace. everything created has to come from a source and with this dream i have to think of everrrrrything. i wouldnt want it anyother way but it being personal makes me think about what stamp goes onto the packages sent. how does the stamp look right with the brand. yes...insanity but nonetheless its much simpler than building, inventing a plane or creating the moon....

i can only end this post like this...for any person whose had to dig deep to create and have very high moments of creativity and very low moments of insecurity...this post is for you.

It takes a lot to convince me on anything. Especially with vision glasses. after all, i've worn glasses since the fourth grade. yes, i'm one of the blind ones, and once i understood the difference between the insurance and designer frames, I had been wearing GUCCI frames until my sophmore year of college. so in some ways, im a complete expert on this subject of style while being blind hahah. I stumbled recently upon a CREATIVE DIRECTOR Anne Laub of PRISM LONDON and her collection is nothing short of convincing. The glasses pretty much promote themselves and maybe for me what oliver peoples are to our lovely bankers.

a few days ago, one of the twins and i went to a store in chelsea and fell into discussion with an old wall street banker about the lost art: the bow tie. think about it, how many men have lost their way due to the disaster of the casual fridays of the late 90s and early millennium. Very few men wear the look and a great percentage of them pull it off when they do. please remember, i am not a lover of the preppy dandy look for men. I do believe in a man not seemingly trying hard to match things together with funky colors and heavy tweeds. Its been done before. let's progress boys. here is an easy vid to master the lost art

In the last few days, I've been posting against what i would like this online notebook to be about. Although I do enjoy posting photography that is an inspiration for the brand, I must admit that it somewhat puts me in a category of other individuals blogging. I'm not a photographer, although I one day believe its something I'll be amazingly great at, I'm not a fashion editor because I could never not get in the action of creating. I'm a designer and my objective is to inspire the way that I've been inspired with the men who make this brand what it is. So I will return to my original objective to continue to call onto the men that make the world what it is. It almost sounds like some sort of a cult calling hahah, but it isnt. I was gratefully raised with four boys, two of which were older than me and happened to be twin men. What they have implanted in me I believe that the world does not always understand. I strongly believe, in the contrary, that a small percentage understands this burning sense of responsibility to pursue your goals, whatever they may be and the power created when you completely subdue yourself in the process. Without seeming like a Sunday morning preacher, I would like to make this change clear. This brand is about the men who are leaders, not just good looking followers. It's about the men who constantly go against the grain and do so wisely and with fear. They aren't fearless and that in every way makes them greater. There is this thing that I do sometimes and it may sound crazy but I will expose it anyways :) There are times that I stand inches near fast pacing cars to get a rush. That may sound slightly mental but, for me, it sort of represents the ability to play with something so extreme and walk away a winner. I guess other people do that with roller coaster rides or whatever and feel like they've walked away from an obstacle course. Where I am going with this, is the desire to constantly feel like this throughout every day of life. You constantly feel like your winning...no matter what--even if you happened to be fired just before rent time while you just completed the final phase of your product. It's about risk taking and absorbing and taking advantage of every piece of life. That is what I believe makes great leaders, innovators, lovers, builders etc. These men who are passionate are taking a risk that every other individual may never understand. For every great bridge there may have been a death to build it, for every great mastermind there may have been a moment lost in insanity. This is how the cookie crumbles, how the world works but the results remain the same. These risk takers become leaders and winners, so be a leader and continue to keep the world moving because without you...the rest of the world would be royally screwed.

For as long as i can remember, ive had a crazy obsession with Tom Ford. The obsession has its merits---after all i believe in designing for the audience, just as a good music artist creates music for his fans. To be completely vulnerable and pour yourself out for them is something incredibly remarkable. I can respect that about any person. It's not just about business or the methods of Seth Godin to woo your early adopters, moreso that you have a passion for living for them. If I looked at designing to create something good for me to look at, then i would feel like i had completely missed the point and failed. I believe its moreso about doing everything in your heart to fulfill this persons life. almost like a lover but in a more unconditional manner. so as i continue this obsession, as i have with every great artist, i'll try my best to continue falling in love, getting scared to get hurt and going deeper than i could have ever anticipated to give to the men what i've been chosen to give...
